On Day 5 of the Queensland State Championships, Abby Hanson made her first state final in the Girls 14yrs 100 BRS gaining a new best time!
Moving on to Day 6...Nudgee Swimmers claimed another 4 medals today on the penultimate day of competition out at Chandler.
Swim of the day went to Thomas Raymond for a superb Silver medal in the Boys 15yrs 200m Freestyle in a fantastic best of 1:54.5. Before the week Thomas came into the meet with a best of 1:59 before dropping a 1:56.6 in the heats then 1:54.5 in the final finishing with 28.2 through the final 50m which was the fastest finishing split in the race, 0.6 faster than race winner Thomas Hauck. What made the swim even more impressive it was his second medal of the day after finishing in the Silver medal position for the Boys 15yrs 1500m Freestyle. Thomas has raced 200m heat & final, 400m heat & final plus 800m & 1500m freestyle all in the past 48 hours. Awesome effort! Ethan Wildin Murrihy also swam in the final with a great best time in the heats by 2 seconds then swimming a further second faster in the evening final to place in 5th position with 1:57.1. Great to have 2 Nudgee boys battling it out in the final of the 200m.
Thomas Connellan picked up another medal fighting really hard up the final 50m to finish in the Silver medal position in the Boys 13yrs 100m Backstroke in a great best time of 1:03.9. Luke Barbour kept his great week up with a 4th position in the same final.
Jade Starr swam a fantastic best in the Girls 15yrs 200m Freestyle to finish in the Silver medal position in a great best time of 2:01.7 just finishing. Jade swam a really good race finishing in 61.5 for her final 100m. Nicole Sanders swam a best time in the heats of the 200m Freestyle to qualify her in 5th position for the final then jumped up another place and knocked a further 3 seconds off to finish in 4th overall with 2:06.8. Brittany Courtney also made the final in that event finishing in 9th.
Tate Robson and Sam Deacon both swam best times in the Boys 17/18yrs 200m Backstroke to finish in 7th and 8th position with really good final 50m swims.
Jacob Krayem carried on his impressive meet by swimming a beat time in the heats and then swimming even faster in the final to finish in 5th position in the Boys 16yrs 100m Butterfly final in 58.3. Jacob has battled with injury of the last 12 months so it’s great to see him swimming fast again.
Dom Osswald swam a best in the heats and then another beat in the final to finish in 9th position in the Boys 12yrs 100m Breaststroke Final.
Alyssa Manthey & Tiffany Mackay also made their second Top 10 finishes of the meet in the Girls 12yrs 400m Freestyle and Girls 15yrs 200m Breaststroke.
With one more day to go the club are sitting in 3RD POSITION on the points score a great effort by all, let’s finish off well!
