Nudgee College Swimming had their best medal haul ever at a State Championships last night ending up with 12 medals from the days swimming; 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze. What an outstanding effort to all who competed! It was such a great night to be a Nudgee Swimming supporter tonight where we had final after final.
Swim of the day goes to Lachlan Gilbert for his outstanding Silver medal in the Boys 16yrs 200m Breaststroke with a best time of 2:19.6. 6 months ago Lachlan broke his leg in a soccer match so to come back from that and do a best time and win a Silver medal is a fantastic accomplishment. Well done Lachy!!
Thomas Connellan swam an outstanding best time in the Boys 800m Freestyle to win his first Gold medal of the day. He then backed up incredibly well in the 100m Freestyle to claim his second Gold medal of the day in a big best time of 54.04 in the 13yrs age group. Luke Barbour made it a 1-3 in that 100m which was the same podium finish as the 200m Freestyle.
Tiana Kritzinger kept her fantastic meet rolling on with a really well well fought Silver medal in the Girls 200m Butterfly. 30 minutes later unfazed by her 200m Fly she lined up for the 100m Freestyle and won a great Bronze medal dipping under 60 seconds for the first time ever.
Thomas Raymond also had a big day competing in Boys 400m Freestyle heats qualifying himself for the final before winning his first ever Queeland Long Course Championships Gold medal in the Boys 15yrs 800m Freestyle then backing up later for a Bronze medal in the 400m Freestyle.
Jade Starr swam a cracking best time in the 400m Freestyle by 3 seconds to win the Silver medal in the Girls 15yrs. In the last 12 months Jade has knocked 8 seconds off her best 400m time to be very competitive with the best girls in Australia in her age group. Nicole Sanders also swam a cracking best time to finish 6th in the 400m final.
Philippa O’Brien carried on her great performance from yesterday in the 800m to win the Gold medal in the Girls 17/18yrs 1500m Freestyle. Philippa fought really hard through the middle of the race.
Jess Mouatt swam a cracking morning 1500m Freestyle swim to only just miss out on becoming QLD Champion. Jess had to settle for the Silver medal in a great 1500m Freestyle swim, well done Jess.
